During the summer of 2004 on the warm Hawaiian waters off Oahu, I got a chance to test out one of my new shapes.  I skirted the lure with a couple of my favorites and it was ready for a test run.  I rigged the lure to a 10/0-9/0 trailer set and sent it into the wild on the center rigger.  At this time we were coming around Barbers Point en route to Waianae when SMACK, "Hana Paa" the center rigger screamed down and the spool began to resonate the sound all fishermen love.  I looked out to the water and witnessed the site of a 160 pound baby blue jumping in the distance having his way with the line and my new lure.  We landed that giant in about 45 minutes with the lure I handmade.  The many hours I had spent teaching myself how to create the little masterpieces was beginning to pay off.  I replaced the leader on my new killer and put it back on the center rigger.  I wanted to know if the last incident was a lucky shot or if this lure could really produce.

           After 30 minutes past, the center came down again. My heart raced as a second Blue Marlin tail danced on the water 300 yards out to sea.  What a day!  I ran this lure for the next two days and had four more bites on it.  I landed two more Marlin, one 250 pounder and one 137 pounder.  Since that glorious day the STINGER (the name I call this shape) has found its place in my lineup almost everyday that I fish.  It has produced multiple Marlin, Dorado, Wahoo and Tuna making it an all around big game lure.  I have confidence in it in any formation and in the heaviest seas to the lightest.  You'll find this lure in my inventory under Likwid Lures and 12" Stinger.  

      I realized my calling on that day, as I was filled with joy and happiness.  I felt that everyone could share the same opportunity and success in the sport of Big Game Fishing by continuing to produce these lures.  I started the company Sunstar Creations with my sweetheart Mary Lenz.  I currently work on the Charter Boat, Kuu Huapala, out of Kewalo Basin in Honolulu, HI.
